Safety Regulations Under the Spotlight at Seminar
Safety regulations in the construction industry will come under the spotlight at a seminar in Stoke-on-Trent.
The North Staffordshire Health and Safety Group has organised the event asking the headline question "CDM - Is It working?" on October 21, 2008.
The Construction Design and Management (CDM) regulations came into force in 1994 and were updated in 2006.
Trevor Fletcher, of the North Staffordshire Health and Safety Group, said: "The CDM regulations were meant to have a profound effect on safety in the construction industry.
"Our seminar aims to examine whether CDM has resulted in a reduction of workplace accidents or more bureaucracy."
The seminar is being held at the North Staffordshire Medical Institute in Hartshill Road, Hartshill and runs from 9.30am to 3.30pm.
The Health and Safety Group has secured a line up of highly qualified speakers including Nic Rigby, Principal Inspector with the Health and Safety Executive, Mario Lombardo, Health and Safety Manager at Ibstock Brick and Bob Sayer of housebuilders, Redrow.
