Disasters can occur at any time in any place. Do you and your family have a plan to cope with an emergency situation?
Construct a Disaster Supplies Kit
WATER - Store at least three gallons of water per person.
FOOD - Store a three day supply of non-perishable food. Include some of the following:
- Ready to eat canned meats, fruits and veggies.
- Canned or powdered juice, milk and soup.
- Sugar, salt and pepper.
- Peanut butter, jelly, crackers, granola bars and trail mix.
- Vitamins
FIRST AID KIT - Create one for your home and one for the car. It should include:
- Bandages in several sizes.
- Gauze pads.
- Adhesive tape.
- Scissors
- Tweezers
- Needle
- Moistened towelettes.
- Antiseptic
- Thermometer
- Petroleum Jelly
- Safety Pins
- Soap
- Latex Gloves
TOOLS - Include the following:
- Paper cups, plates & utensils.
- Battery-operated radio.
- Extra Batteries
- Flashlights
- Cash
- Nonelectric can opener
- Fire extinguisher
- Pliers
- Tape
- Matches
- Aluminum foil
- Plastic storage containers
SANITATION
- Toilet paper
- Soap
- Plastic garbage bags

Disaster Plan
Pick two meeting locations. One a safe distance from your home in case of a fire. The second location outside of your neighborhood in case you can't return home.
Post emergency telephone numbers by every phone. Show family members how and when to shut off water, gas and electricity.
Install a smoke detector on every level of your home. Replace the batteries twice a year.
